If you’re one of our nearly 13000 Facebook fans you probably noticed that Emma Watson Italia’s Facebook Page suddenly went missing last Tuesday. Almost one week later we still haven’t the slightest clue as why this has been the case. Facebook has so far failed to provide any explanation whatsoever, they just simply removed the page.
There could have been several reason behind what happened (breaches of facebook guidelines, fake reports and flagging, etc.) but there’s a fact that makes any educated guess impossible: It’s not just EWI’s page that went missing. There are at least 5 international FB pages about Emma that disappeared. They are Emma Watson Italia, Emma Watson France, Emma Watson Brasil, Emma Watson Chile and Emma-Watson.net. Almost 50000 likes vanished.
It’s clear this can’t be coincidence. For whatever reason a crackdown of the most followed FB pages in the Emma Watson fandom is ongoing.
What now? EWI’s stance is that we won’t open a new page at least until it’s clear why this has happened. We won’t put so much work and start over again just to see another page suddenly vanishing, without a word. The real problem is that it’s next to impossible to get a site like Facebook to human-reply to support requests. We need all of our fandom to stand even one vague chance. Just maybe, if thousands of angry fans write to them at once, they will listen. Maybe, all of us could get our pages back.
Here’s how you can help. Visit this support page and copy-paste the message below in the form. Send it as many times as you can over the next couple of days (leave at least one day between tries).
It’s been almost a week since some of the pages I visit on a daily basis suddenly became unaivalable. Facebook has failed to provide whatever reason for the missing pages despite several requests, let alone restore the correct behaviour and availability. These are the pages I’m referring to:
I’m asking facebook to behave as any serious website should and restore the missing pages as soon as possible and/or provide the administrators of those pages with a detailed explanation about what happened.
